What do you do with a swollen foot?

An example in natural healing?

I have a friend who spilled acid on his foot weeks ago. Not only was the foot very painful but he developed some very upsetting symptoms. He got a rash on his chest, back, various areas, that caused itching, redness, and bumps. The rash moved around from one area to another.. He itched all over including his feet.  He developed a eczema looking skin condition on his hands. He went to his doctors. They prescribed several different ointments and anitbiotics.

After weeks, his foot became more  swollen, red, and bumpy. He could not wear a shoe and he could not exercise as he was used to. He was getting worse not better.He went back to his doctors several times who prescribed different anitbiotics again. The antibiotics did not help much.

I went to lunch with him and he asked me for help. Three separate doctors had looked at his foot  that week and couldn't figure out what to do with it. They had taken a scraping of the rash but it would take several weeks for the results to come back. He didn't want to wait.

The rashes and swollen foot, in holistic healing, says that the blood stream is polluted with chemicals from the acid that got spilled on the foot and from the antibiotics. That is why the rash moved around. The blood steam as it moved through the system with the toxins caused the rash in the different areas.  Even his doctors admitted that. They were not sure, though, what was in his blood system causing the problem.There could be  a secondary staph infection as well. Often, these days, staph does not respond to antibiotics.

In alternative medicine, there are herbs that clean up the blood and lymph system. These herbs will help the kidney and liver to detoxify the body.  These herbs are supporting a natural function that our body already has in place. Its like cleaning up a polluted river.  I suggested a combination of herbs that have a renound reputation called Essiac. You will find several articles on Essiac at my website. This Essiac Formulation contains Cats Claw, Burdock root, Sheep Sorrel, Slippery Elm Bark, Watercress, and Rhubarb Root. I feel that this formulation with Cat's Claw added just makes it even better. I have used it for years.

The original formulation which came from the Ojibwa Indians did not include cats claw. This formulation has a whole book written on it called The Essiac Report by Richard Thomas.

  In the early 1900's, the Ojibwa  Indians helped a white woman who was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. This formulation caused her breast cancer to go into remission.  The woman lived. Rene Caisse in the early 1920's ran into her, 20 years later,  still in remission from the cancer.  Rene became so impressed that she became  the real founder of spreading its value to the world.

 I will go into what these herbs do after I tell you that after only 3 days of taking it...the swelling in the foot was completely gone. He could have after several weeks -wear a shoe again.

Now he was not well completely by any means.. The foot was still bumpy and abnormally colored. He still had some of the rash left.  He would have to take it for some weeks until all the symptoms are gone. He did see some very rapid results by taking the blood cleansing herbs. He could at least wear a shoe again and walk easier.

 He also started taking Transfer Factor to boost his immune system. Transfer Factor has immune factors to support and boost the immune process. The Transfer Factor is very important for his body to fully recuperate.

The immune system can work much faster if you clean up the toxins in the bloodstream.  The herbs help support the healing process that already exists in the body.

What each herb in Essiac does?

 Sheep Sorrel

For hundreds of years, sheep sorrel has appeared in historical archives in both America and Europe as a remedy for cancer. It has been shown in European research that it relieves internal ulcers, skin diseases, attacks and breaks down tumors and is a tonic for the urinary tract. Contains high amounts of Vitamins A and B-complex and many trace minerals.

Burdock Root:

A powerful blood purifier. In 1966 two Hungarian scientists reported "considerable anti-tumor activity" in purified fraction of Burdock. As a blood purifier burdock root may clear congestion in  the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory and urinary systems. It helps the body to eliminate excess fluids from the body and stimulates the elimination of toxic waste materials out of the body has well. This helps relieve liver disorders and helps improve digestion. It helps the body to get rid of bile, detoxify the kidneys and gall bladder. The Chinese consider is an excellent rejuvenator and aphrodisiac. It is rich in vitamins, B-complex, E, and P. It has high amounts of trace minerals as well.

Slippery Elm Bark

It has a lubricating action that helps protect and soften the mucous membrane linings of the body such as the stomach, intestines, and alimentary canal. It helps soothe the pain of ulcers  by helping to restore the normal mucous coating to irritated tissues.

Rhubarb Root

Remarkable detoxifying herb used for centuries throughout the world. Studies in the 1980's have shown rhubarb root extract to contain antibiotic, antimicrobial and anti-tumor properties. It also contains many vitamins and minerals.

Cat's Claw

Indigenous people in the Amazon have long used cat's claw to treat ulcers, arthritis, tumors, and gastrointestinal conditions.  It also stimulates the immune system and is a detoxifier.

Hospitals say long nails are bacterial risk to patients.

Studies offer mounting evidence that long nails or those that are bonded with cosmetic acrylic or plastic material can shelter bacteria, viruses or fungi such as yeast and pose a special danger to those with weakened immune systems.

 Nail infections often go undiagnosed because they are harder to recognize in an artificial nail because the acrylic covers them up.

 Even in the absence of infection, long nails-be they artificial or natural-serve as a reservoir for infections for patients just because they are more difficult to clean. This is from Dr. Jon Rosenberg, a medical epidemiologist with the state Dept of Health Services.
